311 Customer Service Center Primary point of contact for City and County of San Francisco government general services, providing customer service 24 hours a day in over 140 languages to San Francisco residents, visitors, and businesses seeking general information and services.
A
Academy of Sciences Scientific and cultural institution with a natural history museum, an education department and a science library. Obtain information on events, lectures and programs. Sign up for membership, buy tickets, shop at the Museum Store.
Administrative Services (DAS) Oversees organizations that support the effective operations of other city departments. Functions including building operations, technology, capital planning, procurement, and fleet management.

Aging and Adult Services

Assists seniors and functionally impaired adults in coordinating range of social, mental health, and long term care services. Obtain information or services regarding the care and protection of seniors or functionally impaired adults, such as Adult Protective Services, the Public Guardian and Conservator, or In-Home Supportive Services.

Animal Care & Control Public safety and animal emergency, abuse or neglect 24/7. Responsibilities include stray, lost, abandoned domestic and exotic animals, injured wildlife. Information on adoption center, lost pets, volunteer programs, apply online for dog licenses, report an animal bite or barking/noisy dogs.
Arts Commission

Agency that champions the arts in San Francisco. Submit a request for information on ongoing exhibitions, street artist program information, cultural equity grants information.

Asian Art Museum Museum devoted to Asian Art. Programs include a library center, educational program, events such as lectures, symposiums, and films. Obtain information on location, hours, and exhibits; purchase tickets; shop in the museum store.
Assessment Appeals Board Provides taxpayers with a means to appeal their property tax assessment. Obtain forms and documents and information on meetings, hearings, and fees.
Assessor/Recorder

Appraises property, records and maintains real property and public marriage license records. Submit a request for property-related information, such as maps, deeds, or legal exemptions; information on public marriage records, or assistance in recording documents.

Board of Supervisors

Elected representatives of San Francisco City and County Districts. Contact your elected Board Member for information or provide feedback. Obtain information regarding Board of Supervisor meetings, boards, commissions, task forces, or legislation.

Budget Analyst's Office Provides independent fiscal analysis, special studies and management audit reports on City departments and programs to the Board of Supervisors.

Building Inspection Department

Department enforces Building, Housing, Plumbing, Electrical, and Mechanical Codes, Disability Access Regulations. Apply for permits or inspections, contact code enforcement, obtain information on building codes.

Capital Planning Program Develops and implements 10-year capital plan its annual capital budge. Analyzes infrastructure needs and facility conditions, evaluates capital project requests and establishes financing strategies for capital needs.
Child Support Services

Department establishes and enforces parental economic support. Custodial parents, guardians and noncustodial parents can obtain assistance and information regarding Child Support Payments. Employers can obtain information regarding income withholding orders or medical support notices.

Children, Youth & Families (Department of)

Department develops and supports programs and activities for San Franciscans ages 0 through 17 and their families. Obtain information about children's programs and activities and programs supporting families in San Francisco.

City Administrator

Oversees organizations that support the effective operations of other city departments, such as maintenance, operations, and management of city-owned buildings, infrastructure and capital improvement projects, technology services, procurement and contract administration, fleet management, risk management, capital planning and administration of the city debt.

City Attorney Represents the legal interests of CCSF including prosecution of code violators. Obtain information about code enforcement, including the code enforcement hotline, obtain information about filing a claim against the City, including claim form.
City College of San Francisco Online enrollment application, registration, obtain college catalog, class schedule, financial aid, scholarship, student services information, fee information.

City Hall Building Management

Manages the building operations of City Hall. Contact for permitting rallies on the City Hall steps and inquiries regarding meetings held within City Hall.

Civil Service Commission Oversees the merit system and establishes rules and policies, hears appeals on examinations and employment qualifications; Obtain appeals information and forms and publications.
Commission on the Status of Women Promotes the advancement of the status of women and girls, particularly those that are marginalized. Monitors complaints regarding the unlawful and unequal treatment of women and girls. Promotes public education and awareness to prevent violence against, sexual harassment of, and discrimination against women.
Controller's Office Provides financial oversight of CCSF operations, maintains financial and accounting systems. Obtain financial reports, budget information, public forms and notices, Whistleblower Complaints Program.
County Clerk

Office handles fictitious business name, marriage licenses, domestic partnerships, notaries public, process server filings. Obtain reservations for Civil Ceremony, Marriage License, Search Fictitious Business Name Index, Obtain information about County Clerk services.

District Attorney

Investigates and prosecutes individuals accused of criminal acts. Provides advocacy and support to crime victims and witnesses. Programs to deter and prosecute violent crimes, fraud and corruption, and protect women, children, and the elderly.

Elections Department

Manages federal, state and local elections, including registration of voters, placement of ballot initiatives, outreach programs, voter rolls, voter information pamphlets. Information and questions regarding elections, including election results. Voter services, including multilingual and disabled services, registration status, polling place and district look-up, forms and applications, provisional and vote-by mail ballot status.

Employee Retirement System Provides information for individual retirement benefits for active and retired City and County employees, Obtain forms, publications, and information.
Environment Department Promotes programs and policies to improve, enhance and preserve the environment, such as recycling, composting, toxics reduction, green business program, environmental justice, energy efficiency. Information on recycling programs, commuter benefits, green business program, other environmental programs and policies.

Ethics Commission

Governmental ethics laws, including campaign finance, campaign consultant, lobbying, conflicts of interests, and Whistleblower investigation. Obtain ethics-related information and forms, including links to relevant legal codes.

Film Commission

Promotes city as a location to film movies. Assists film producers in coordinating logistical arrangements. Obtain information about film production in San Francisco, including procedures, resources, and local information.

Human Resources

Recruits, Engages, and Develops the City's workforce to meet the service needs of San Franciscans. Obtain job information and apply for jobs; Obtain information on employee services, including training and Employee Assistance Program; Department services include employee relations and recruitment.

Human Rights Commission Mediates and investigates complaints of discrimination in employment and public accommodations. Prepares, encourages, and coordinates programs to reduce or eliminate inequalities and disadvantages in employment, housing and public accommodations. Implements Business Enterprise and Equal Benefits Ordinances.

Human Services

Social services for people who are disadvantaged or in crisis. Obtain information about referrals to and assistance with programs that help maximize self-sufficiency, safety, and independence, such as Food Stamps, Homeless Services, Medi-Cal, Cal WORKS, County Adult Assistance Program, In-Home Support Services, and employment and training. . Mayor's Office Public suggestions, complaints, compliments, questions, requests directed to the Mayor. Access information about the Mayor's Office, provide feedback to the Mayor and his staff, contact a community or neighborhood liaison.

Mayor's Office on Disability

Disabled access to City-operated services, benefits, activities, facilities. Access information regarding disabled access to City-operated services, including the City's obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as other federal, state, and local access codes and disability rights laws.

Medical Examiner Investigates and Certifies deaths of legal or public health interest, including deaths believed not to be due to a natural disease process, is a homicide or suicide, accident or a type of death mentioned by law.
Mental Health Board Represents consumers, family members, citizens and stakeholders in advising how mental health services are administered and provided.
Minimum Compensation Ordinance The minimum wage rate applies to employees of commercial businesses that contract with the City or lease property at SFO. Administered by the Office of Labor Standards Enforcement. Obtain information, forms and documents.

Office of Contract Administration (Purchasing)

Purchase of goods and services for the City and County of San Francisco including contract negotiation and code compliance. Obtain information about contracting or supplying goods to City government, including compliance information and the bidding and contract process.

Office of Emergency Services Within the Department of Emergency Management, works closely with emergency responders, community partners and residents to engage in comprehensive disaster planning. Obtain information on emergency preparedness.

Planning Adopts and maintains a comprehensive, long-term general plan for future improvement and development of the city, with the goal of orderly and harmonious use of land and improved quality of life. Police Department

Public Defender

Legal representation of people charged with crimes and unable to afford an attorney. Promotes programs to help clients seek treatment in lieu of prison time. Obtain legal information and referrals, links to legal information, and the Clean Slate Program.

Public Health

Provides person health care services, enforces Health Code to resolve environmental health hazards and nuisances, maintains continuous record of births and deaths in San Francisco.
Public Library Provides library services through its Main Library, 27 branches and 5 bookmobiles. Collection includes books, magazines, newspapers, CDs and DVDs. Public Works Provides services ranging from cleaning, repairing, and maintaining city streets, sidewalks and sewers, to greening the urban landscape, to designing and managing the construction of public facilities. Real Estate Responsible for the acquisition of all real property required for City purposes, the sale of surplus real city property, and the leasing of property required by city agencies.

San Francisco Unified School District Educates pre-school, elementary, middle and high school students. Obtain forms and publications, including student handbook, information on enrollment, schools, events,

Sheriff

Administers county jails, warrant service, security of civil and criminal courts, and City Hall. Provides information and referrals regarding re-entry programs and jail alternative programs. Carries out all judgments of the civil courts including collecting fees, serving warrants, evictions, garnishments.

Small Business Commission

Promote, and assists small businesses sector. Provide information concerning business structure and formation, including necessary licenses and permits, accessing financial resources and appropriate real estate; participating in City purchasing process, complying with laws and regulations, adopting green and sustainable business practices.

Sunshine Ordinance Task Force Obtain information about the Sunshine Ordinance, which ensures easy access to public records and open meetings. Procedures for filing a complaint regarding Sunshine Ordinance compliance.

Taxicab Commission Enacts and enforces rules concerning taxi drivers, medallion holds and companies to insure the provision of prompt, safe, honest, efficient, and courteous taxi service. Information on policies, rules, regulations, meetings, procedures for taxicab drivers and companies.
Technology, Department of Offers technology services to help City Departments in providing information and services to the community.

Treasure Island Development Authority

Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island operations including residential properties and rental facilities. Redevelopment and policy decisions, approval of budget and large contracts. Rents facilities for public and private events.

Treasurer/Tax Collector Local taxes and business registration, issues regulatory licenses, U.S. Passport applications. Pay property taxes, renew business registration, dog license, and other fees. Information regarding City payment center for purchasing products and services.

Veterans' Affairs Commission Holds hearings and submits recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and Mayor regarding the problems, interest and needs of veterans.
Veterans' Service Office Assists veterans and their dependents in obtaining U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs benefits and entitlements. Outreach to homeless veterans and veterans with disabilities.

War Memorial and Performing Arts Center Facilities include the War Memorial Opera House, the War Memorial Veterans Building (including the Herbst Theatre and Green Room), Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall, Harold L. Zellerbach Rehearsal Hall and the Memorial Court.
