As of March 1, 2009, the former
Taxicab Commission is merged with the SFMTA as the Division of
Administration, Accessible
Services and Taxis (ATAS). The Board of Supervisors enacted
Section 1075.1 of the Police Code, which provides that the SFMTA now
has the power to regulate the taxi industry and other motor vehicles
for hire in San Francisco.
